Why Kikuyu Benga Artist Peter Nditi Is About Girl Child Empowerment & Local Tourism In His Latest Songs

Rising Kikuyu Benga Artist, Peter Nditi, has premiered two new music tracks; Mwana Wa Kairetu  and  Mombasa Raha. While Mwana wa Kairetu is a girl child empowerment themed song, which in the Kikuyu vernacular dialect translates to The Girl Child, Mombasa Raha on the other hand pays homage to the historic coastal city.

Peter Nditi was born and raised in Muranga County, where his love for music was brewed dubs not only as an artist but also as a political analyst & a commentator on social ethics.

Apart from music, the multi-talented Peter has an academic accolade to his name, as he is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Education (English & Literature) from Kenyatta University. No wonder there is great prowess and mastery of content in his songs.

Released in November, Mwana Wa Kairetu is a rallying call to the Kikuyu society and Kenya at large to continue empowering the once forgotten girl child, as times have changed and the girl child is no longer seen to come in handy only in raising a family.

He advocates that equipping the girl child with the necessary tools leads to the budding growth of not only a community but a country, for what a man can do, a woman can exemplify even better. Through the debut, Nditi is passionate about issues that seek to accord the girl child equal opportunities to compete and consequently lead a fulfilled life.Mwana Wa Kairetu /The Girl Child

Mombasa Raha follows the romantic Peter on a groovy Benga- rhumba beat- as he narrates to his lover the plans to take her to the historic city of Mombasa and witness the beauty that comes with both the ancient and the modern town.

The song also advocates for local tourism, as he shot the video in the town’s historic monuments, featuring the pristine white sandy beaches, the grand Fort Jesus, the Likoni ferry not forgetting the Likoni floating bridge, and many other tourist attraction sites which leave his audience wishing they were with him.

Backed by a band rich in music legacy, the artist has clearly shown that he is just getting warmed up and the sky is not a limit but a passing glance.
